His experience extends from village-level governance to broader political engagement. As a former sarpanch (village head) and member of the block samiti, Ranjit Singh Gill has worked directly with grassroots communities, understanding their needs and advocating for sustainable development solutions. These roles shaped his conviction that effective public service requires direct engagement with constituents.
In 2017, he contested the Kharar assembly seat on the Shiromani Akali Dal ticket, finishing third. In 2022, he contested again on the SAD-BSP alliance ticket, finishing second, demonstrating substantial community support for his vision of equitable development. These campaigns gave him direct connection to grassroots concerns and strengthened his commitment to people-centered governance.
In July 2025, Ranjit Singh Gill resigned his primary membership from the Shiromani Akali Dal. On August 1, 2025, he was inducted into the Bharatiya Janata Party by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini at his Chandigarh residence. This transition marks a new chapter in his ongoing commitment to public service and equitable development for the people of Kharar.
